Introductions

Hello World!

I am a (almost) 30-something, aspiring makeup artist, lifestyle blogger, with an undergraduate degree in Biology and a graduate degree in Education.  I am also married to my best friend and mom to a toddler.  Things do get hectic in my house, but I am learning along the way.

Why did I start this blog?

Well, first of all, I love to write and I love to share.  I try out new products (both beauty and baby related) all the time.  If you are like me then you try to get as much information as possible about products before you spend your money.  I love reading reviews and others' experiences, and I believe that I can contribute to this community through sharing my opinions and experiences.

Second, I find this a great way to connect with others that may be in a similar position.  I am an Afghan-American, living in the Stafford, Virginia (a far suburb of Washington, D.C.).  I find it a daily struggle to balance my parents' Afghan culture (and Muslim identity) and my American upbringing.  I do not see this voiced very often in the online community, and would like to use this as a space where we can do that.

This also leads me into the representation of Afghans, Middle East, and South Asians in the online beauty  community.  It can be difficult to listen to a "beauty guru" (wow, do I hate that term) who shares colors and products that do not work for my particular skin tone.  I feel that I can share products that will work for ladies with medium skin tones, or anyone else interested in beauty products for clients with medium skin tones.

Finally, I hope to meet others out there that may share the same interests or may want to participate in sharing their thoughts on this blog.
